Certification CenterWhy You Should Be Certified
Certification as a Woman Business Enterprise (WBE) and/or Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) can open doors to lucrative government or large corporation contracts.
If your company is privately held and at least 51 percent owned by a woman and/or minority who is a U.S. citizen or legal resident, you can apply for WBE and/or MBE certification.
Hundreds of major U.S. corporations accept third-party certification by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) or National Women's Business Owners Corporation (NWBOC). For minority certification, look to the local chapters of the National Minority Supplier Development Council. Extensive documentation is required to verify the ownership and authenticity of your business for WBE or MBE certification. Gathering the materials before you begin to complete the application will make the process easier.
