4. What is the minimum opening deposit for your checking accounts?

Most of our checking accounts require a minimum opening deposit of $100. The Priority Banking Checking account requires a minimum opening deposit of $1,000.

5. Do you offer an interest-bearing checking account?

Yes. Our Priority Banking Checking account and Signature Tiered Interest Checking account offer tiered interest rates, which means the higher your account balance, the more interest you may earn. Interest is compounded monthly and paid monthly.

6. Do you offer accounts for children and teens?

We offer a Teen Access checkng account for teens 13 to 17. This account, which requires an adult joint owner, helps children learn about financial responsibility. When your child turns 18, his or her Teen Access account automatically converts to a Banking By Design Account. We also offer Kidz Savings and Teen Savings accounts to help teach children the value of saving money.

9. What overdraft services do you offer?

Union Bank offers five types of overdraft services.
  • Deposit Overdraft Protection — links your eligible checking, savings or money market account to your checking account and funds will automatically transfer to cover your overdraft. Fees may apply.
  • Overdraft Protection Linked to a Union Bank Credit Card — links your Union Bank credit card to automatically advance funds to cover your overdraft. Fees may apply.
  • Cash Reserve Account — is a line of credit that automatically advances funds to your linked checking account to cover your overdraft. Fees may apply.
  • Standard Overdraft Coverage — authorizes Union Bank to pay your check transactions, automatic payments, recurring debit card transactions, and other transactions made using your account number, at our discretion, when there are not sufficient Available Funds in your account. Fees may apply.
  • Union Bank Debit Card Overdraft Coverage — authorizes Union Bank to pay one-time ATM or debit card purchases and ATM withdrawals, at our discretion, when there are not sufficient Available Funds in your account. Fees may apply.

10. What is a combined balance?

A combined balance is the total balance in one or more eligible accounts that you have asked us to link to your primary checking account. For example, if you have $2,000 in your checking account and $3,500 in your MoneyMarket account, your combined balance is $5,500.

11. Can I receive a combined monthly statement for all of my accounts?

Yes. You can combine up to 20 Union Bank checking, savings, and money market accounts into one organized monthly statement. Stop by any branch for details.

12. How do I start banking online?

If you have a Union Bank checking account, you can start banking online by signing up for Online Banking. Online Banking offers account access, bill payment, and account monitoring tools such as account alerts.

13. What is an ATM mini-statement?

This abbreviated statement provides details on your last 10 withdrawals and deposits. You can request an ATM mini-statement at any Union Bank ATM. ATM mini-statements are available for a $1 fee.

14. Can I check my account balance over the telephone?

Yes. Our Telephone Banking enables you to check your balances and even handle some transactions over the telephone.

15. Will I receive my canceled checks with my statement?

You can view and print the front and back of your canceled checks online when you sign up for Online Banking. Or you can receive reduced-size copies of the front of your canceled checks with your monthly statement for a $3.00 monthly fee.

16. Is an ATM or debit card included with my account?

Union Bank offers an ATM or debit card with your checking account upon request -- for ATM access and ability to make purchases anywhere MasterCard® is accepted.

17. How much can I withdraw from a Union Bank ATM?

At Union Bank ATMs, you can make a daily withdrawal of up to $500 or an amount equal to your available account balance, whichever is less. Limits are higher with Signature Banking, Priority Banking, and The Private Bank . Teen Access account limits may be lower.

18. How do I reorder checks or deposit slips?

If you are a current Union Bank Online Banking customer, you can reorder checks for your personal account by signing on to Online Banking, select Services, then select Check Order. If you are not a current Online Banking customer, you can either start banking online today or call 1-800-238-4486. You will need to provide your checking account number and routing transit number. This information is listed on the bottom of your checks or reorder form. For a sample of a check, including where to locate the account number and routing transit number, click here.

Small business clients may reorder checks through Online Banking for Small Business. If you are not currently enrolled in Online Banking for Small Business, call 1-888-238-4486, to reorder checks.

Reorders placed online will include the same style, quantity, and imprinted information (name, address, etc.) as your last order. If you need to change the imprinted information or style, please call 1-800-238-4486, or visit your local Union Bank branch.
