UNION BANK PROMOTES BITA ARDALAN TO HEAD OF NATIONAL SPECIALIZED LENDING

LOS ANGELES -- December 13, 2010 -- Union Bank, N.A., has named Executive Vice President Bita Ardalan head of the national specialized lending group. Ardalan is based in Los Angeles and reports to the head of commercial banking, Senior Executive Vice President Robert C. Dawson.

In her new role, Ardalan will oversee the sales, marketing and credit management of several of the bank’s fastest growing national growth specialties including commercial finance, environmental industries and fund finance, that underwrites the needs of sponsored investment funds including bridge capital and subscription facilities. Her group is also responsible for the geographic expansion of commercial banking and the identification and development of new high-potential niches for the bank. The group provides financial expertise to corporate clients including, but not limited to: debt financing, depository and cash management, global trade, foreign currency exposure, interest rate management and private banking.

Ardalan has been with Union Bank since 1986 when she joined the management training program. Over the years she has held various management positions including most recently as an executive vice president overseeing commercial banking for the Greater Los Angeles division.

Ardalan earned a Bachelor of Science in economics and finance from Williams College in Massachusetts. She has also successfully completed numerous executive education programs in corporate finance, leadership, strategic planning, and finance at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and UCLA’s Anderson School of Management. Ardalan is a frequent speaker and author on senior financing-related topics.
