Irvine, September 20, 2011 – Union Bank, N.A., joined the American Heart Association (AHA) Sunday, September 18 in the annual Orange County Heart Walk to raise awareness and funds to fight heart disease and stroke. Through the partnership, Union Bank and the AHA continue a groundbreaking and successful alliance that has helped fund life-saving research and educated tens of thousands of people on how to live healthier lives. The event, which included a 5K walk or run, a one-mile "Survivor Route" walk, kids fun zone, free blood pressure screenings and CPR demonstrations, attracted more than 10,000 people and raised more than $1.2 million. Among the attendees at the Orange County Heart Walk were actress Nia Peeples, Union Bank Executive Vice President and Head of California Branch Banking Michael Feldman and Union Bank Senior Vice President and Market President Lawrence Henry.
“This is the second year that Union Bank has participated in the Heart Walk here in Orange County, and we’re thrilled that our partnership has expanded to include Orange County,” said Feldman. “It’s truly a testament to how successful the collaboration has been. Our sponsorship has provided a tremendous opportunity for our employees to invest in their own health and well-being and for the bank to help improve the fiscal and physical health of the communities we serve.”
