We're a dynamic organization that cares about our employees, our customers and the communities we serve. We embrace diversity in our workplace and workforce because it makes us a better employer and a better provider of service to our customers. In addition, our diverse workforce helps us truly understand the challenges facing our employees and the communities in which they work and live. This allows us to provide benefits and resources that meet the needs of our workforce.

We believe there are significant benefits in providing a culturally open and aware work environment for all employees, without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, genetic information, gender, marital or family status, age, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, citizenship, veteran status, disability or any other characteristic protected by law. An example of this is the fact that currently, women comprise 52% of our total workforce, including 46% of the Union Bank's senior officer level positions; while minorities comprise 59% of the total population.

Our commitment to inclusion and diversity is ingrained in our culture and core values. We understand that diversity of thought and utilization of diverse ideas is the end goal. The diverse backgrounds and perspectives of our employees will help us get there. We believe that teams of people with different perspectives can have richer discussion, consider new and different ideas, and have greater success at solving complex problems in order for us to best serve our clients and thrive as a global company.

Creating an inclusive environment—learning and applying the best from our differences and our similarities—improves our ability to be innovative, enhances our ability to serve a broader group of customers, supports efforts in building strong ties to our communities, and builds strength within our company.

We are committed to developing the diverse employees within our organization. One of the many ways we do this is through our Enterprise Resource Group Program. ERGs are bank-recognized and supported groups open to all employees who share a common identity, characteristic, or affiliation. They reinforce our commitment to valuing and leveraging Inclusion and Diversity, provide support to employees, build awareness of diverse cultures and communities, and function as a resource to bank departments and functions. We draw on our ERGs for purposes such as marketing, product and business development, recruitment and community outreach.

We currently operate seven Enterprise Resource Groups (ERG):
  • Adelante:  our ERG focused on the Hispanic population
  • ASPIRE:  our Asian/Pacific Islander population
  • NextGen:  our generational ERG focused on those who want to become leaders in our organization
  • Pride Alliance:  our ERG focused on the LGBT population
  • PULSE:  our ERG focused on the African-American/Black population
  • SERVE:  our ERG focused on veterans, active duty, and families of military members within our organization
  • WIN:  our ERG focused on the female population within our organization
