Ivy Bottini has worked tirelessly for the rights of women and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community for more than 50 years.

Currently, Ms. Bottini is developing an AIDS Memorial in West Hollywood and the Southland’s first LGBT Museum. She is also writing an autobiography.

Ms. Bottini has spearheaded several organizations, including the Los Angeles Lesbian/Gay Police Advisory Board, Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing, AIDS Network LA, the first chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). She also co-chaired the Lesbian and Gay Advisory Board for the City of West Hollywood.

Ms. Bottini has also contributed to the defeat of some of California’s most controversial measures. She served as chair of the Southern California division of the “No On LaRouche” campaign/Proposition 64, an initiative statute that would have restored AIDS to the list of communicable diseases, and served as deputy director of the Southern California region against Briggs Initiative, or Proposition 6, which would have banned gays and lesbians from teaching in California’s schools.
