Notes from Annette Billingsley
Union Bank is expanding its footprint in California. Last year, Union Bank acquired Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, a well-respected community bank that will significantly enhance the bank's presence on the Central Coast. This acquisition will help the bank better serve customers with more banking offices for our commercial and consumer clients.
The bank's expansion along the Central Coast will enable our CDF team to enhance our focus on affordable housing developments in this area. We look forward to forging new relationships with local community leaders and housing agencies as well as growing existing partnerships. We are pleased to welcome our SBB&T colleagues, as we share a common vision of community-based banking.
Also in this newsletter are stories about our clients, who continue to do remarkable work under difficult conditions. We are impressed with the impact they are making beyond providing shelter. For example, the story on MidPen's Station Center highlights its contribution to the cleanup of a brownfield site. Mercy Housing Northwest is developing a project with a nonprofit health club to contribute to resident health. And West Hollywood Community Housing Corporation has been increasing its staff coordinators who provide social service agency referrals. In these ways and so many more, our clients are making an impact on their residents well beyond providing housing.
